This book is the ultimate guide to healing from chronic pain.  Steve brilliantly explains the mindbody syndrome within the pages of this book, the whos, whats, whens, wheres, and whys.  This book is what I would consider the bible of tms, and is also the book that most profoundly effected my healing process.  Steve also tells his personal story in this book which is extraordinary, it will give you the confidence that you can absolutely heal.

This book perfectly describes the process that creates chronic pain, as well as the one that heals it.  During my third read of this book I thought, "why would anybody else even write a book on this topic, he nailed it."  This book is not just for back pain, it is for any type of chronic pain.

THE DIVIDED MIND: THE EPIDEMIC OF MINDBODY DISORDERS

This is the first book I read on the subject, and the one the brought light and hope back into my life.  I actually listened to the audiobook two times over and immediately began doing what I needed to do to truly heal.  I started playing hockey again, running, got rid of the special cushion in my car, etc. etc.  Dr. Sarno is the pioneer of tms, this is the last book he penned before his death at the age of 93.  Sarno deserves to be remembered as a Saint, and I would highly recommend his book.

Gabor Mate, M.D.

WHEN THE BODY SAYS NO: EXPLORING THE STRESS DISEASE CONNECTION

Gabor Mate is a leading expert on the mindbody connection.  This book mainly focuses on disease, and not chronic pain, but the mechanism and root causes remain the same.  I read this book, and if it was talking about this or that disease, I simply applied the same knowledge and wisdom to the chronic pain I was experiencing.

BREAKING THE HABIT OF BEING YOURSELF: HOW TO LOSE YOUR MIND & CREATE A NEW ONE

This book explores the role of emotions (energy in motion) in our lives.  It shows the science behind what is going on in our brains and how we can approach healing.  Dispenza explores the ways we become addicted to our own emotions and how we become trapped in our own pain.  He also gives us practical ways we can overcome & transcend these limitations.

David R. Hawkins, M.D. Ph.D.

HEALING AND RECOVERY

In this book Hawkins describes how it is our own belief, combined with unconscious negative emotions, that create pain and disease.  He describes how he healed himself of 20+ chronic conditions and how we can do the same.  This book beautifully compliments the other books I have mentioned, and provides great insight into the nature of the mindbody connection.
